An American Songbook

Clear Space Artistic Director, Doug Yetter, and Executive Director, Ken Skrzesz, have performed An American Songbook concerts for many years throughout the eastern seaboard. The popularity of the concert is due to the musicianship and communicative skills of the performers aligned with the extraordinary wealth of repertoire of show and popular music created in America in the Twentieth Century. Audiences hear, sometimes for the first time, this music presented with as much energy dedicated to the dramatic structure of each song as to the music itself. A lecture-demonstration version of An American Songbook is also included in the Speaker’s Bureau Series of the Delaware Humanities Forum.

100 Years of Broadway

Showcases the talents of four (or eight) multi-talented actors/singers/dancers who take audiences on a tour of some of the best-loved Broadway shows from the past century. The revue features songs and dances from a wide range of shows – from George M. Cohan’s first hit, “Little Johnny Jones,” to musicals of Broadway’s Golden Age, such as “Oklahoma!” and “Fiddler on the Roof,” to hits of today, including “Wicked” and “Jersey Boys.” The show runs one hour, but can be abbreviated to suit individual needs.

The Three Adventures of Sinbad

This original play by Ken Skrzesz features the talented cast of the Clear Space Theatre Company and is perfect for special events, assemblies and private parties. Sinbad needs everyone's help to find true friendship on his adventures to faraway places. Along with the queen, the princess and a trusty sidekick, children of all ages will be part of the action as the Singing Forest, Soaring Eagles or the Caspian Sea. All audience members are encouraged to participate as they learn to use the three tools of acting: imagination, voice and body. This 45-minute performance, presented in any large space, includes a pre-show audience warm-up and post-show interaction with the actors. Study guides are available upon request.

Ted Keegan: A Voice of Broadway

Ted is offering three concert options and one is certain to enhance your upcoming season.

Songs, Stories, and Indelible Images
In Songs, Stories and Indelible Images, Ted shares his own journey which began in upstate New York, surrounded by avery close knit family, and progresses to becoming a member of the Broadway community. Through heart-warming stories, photographic images, and glorious music, Ted takes the audience through events in his life that shaped his remarkable career; the songs he sang, the shows he performed, and the people he met along the way.

Singing the Great Composers
In this concert, Ted sings the songs of composers such as, George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Harold Arlen, Johnny Mercer and many others. An exciting celebration of our American musical heritage, Singing the Great Composers is a performance of the songs that have influenced the world. During the concert Ted shares his knowledge of each composer’s life and how it informs his performance. Ted’s audience interaction allows them to experience a familiarity with him and the material, creating a meaningful theatrical event.

The Golden Age of Broadway
The excitement Ted experienced as a child listening to classical musical theater comes to life in The Golden Age of Broadway. This concert features songs made famous by beloved Broadway baritones John Raitt, Richard Kiley and Howard Keel. Audiences thrill at hearing Ted sing musical theatre selections that span the years 1943-1964 when the best-loved shows such as Carousel, Oklahoma, and Kismet made their appearances on the Great White Way. At no other time has Musical Theater been such a strong part of the popular culture as it was during the Golden Age.
