Clear Space Artistic Director, Doug Yetter, and Executive Director, Ken Skrzesz, have performed An American Songbook concerts for many years throughout the eastern seaboard. The popularity of the concert is due to the musicianship and communicative skills of the performers aligned with the extraordinary wealth of repertoire of show and popular music created in America in the Twentieth Century. Audiences hear, sometimes for the first time, this music presented with as much energy dedicated to the dramatic structure of each song as to the music itself. A lecture-demonstration version of An American Songbook is also included in the Speaker’s Bureau Series of the Delaware Humanities Forum.

All audience members are encouraged to participate as they learn to use the three tools of acting: imagination, voice and body. This 45-minute performance, presented in any large space, includes a pre-show audience warm-up and post-show interaction with the actors. Study guides are available upon request.
