Join Broadway star Deidre Goodwin as she presents her one-woman show Saturday, May 31 at 7:00 or Sunday, June 1 at 3:00 in the Little Theatre of Cape Henlopen High.  Having appeared in shows such as “Chicago (opposite Melanie Griffith),” “Nine (with Antonio Bandaras and Chita Rivera),” “Dreamgirls,” “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Smoky Joe’s Café,” and currently starring in the revival of “A Chorus Line,” Ms. Goodwin presents songs and stories highlighting her fabulous career – from performing on a Mississippi Showboat to starring on Broadway! Prior to the Sunday matinee audience members have the option to enjoy a fantastic brunch at Fish On! in Lewes.  Tickets are $15/20/25 and available for purchase online or through the box office at 644.3810.

ARTS INSTITUTE PERFORMANCES

Our 2008 performing arts festival is Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4.  All the students in our Broadway Bound program will perform Saturday, May 3 at 6:00, tickets are $5. The Clear Space Chorus presents “A Grand Night for Singing! – The Music of Hollywood” on Sunday, May 4 at 3:00 in the Little Theatre of Cape Henlopen High.  The Chorus will appear in an encore presentation of the concert on Friday, May 16 at 7:30 at the Mariner’s Bethel UMC in Ocean View (81 Central Ave).  Chorus tickets are $15 and available for purchase online or through the box office at 644.3810.

The Clear Space Website (www.ClearSpaceProductions.org) has several new features!  You can now buy tickets to all of our events as well as donate online. You can even choose to spread your contribution over the course of the year and we’ll simply deduct the amount from your debit card or charge your credit card monthly.

There is also a new Online Performance Gallery featuring pictures, audio, etc. from our current season.  Take a moment to browse around the site and see what’s going on online!

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR HONORED

Clear Space Executive Director, Ken Skrzesz, will be honored as a Distinguished Alumni on Saturday, May 3 at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro where he received his MFA.  Ken is the recipient of 2008 Ethel Martus Lawther Alumni Award and was selected by unanimous vote.  He had been previously honored as a Distinguished Alumni from Towson University in Maryland where he did his undergraduate work.  Clear Space congratulates you, Ken!

MUSICAL SUMMER THEATRE INTENSIVE

There are only 40 spaces left in Musical Theatre Summer Intensive 2008 for Elementary, Middle and High School Students.  The Musical Theatre Summer Intensive is an exciting two-week experience for students who love to perform. Students, divided by age and ability-level, travel through classes in voice, acting, dance, playwriting and other fun activities. The faculty is comprised of arts education professionals who guide the students to a spectacular public performance on the final day.

The program will be weekdays from Monday June 23 through Thursday July 3, 2008 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Cape Henlopen High School, 1250 Kings Highway, Lewes DE 19958.  The tuition for the two weeks is $400.00 and includes all instruction, materials and two performance tickets.  Applications are due by June 1, 2008. Last year’s Summer Intensive sold out by April 1, so early registration is encouraged.
